This is an really interesting piece of natural Biotite Mica.

The Mica Family contains lots of members that you may well already know, Fuchsite, Muscovite, Lepidolite and others too, but what they all share with this Biotite Mica is that they are generally built up from hundreds of very thin sheets, all stacked on top of each other and often only loosely held together. This formation gives it a distinctive book like appearance when viewed edge on.

In fact pieces such as this are sometimes referred to as "Mica Books".

It has a rather strange feel to it, perhaps like very thin sheets of foil stacked together, which in a way it is !

Being Mica, do just be aware that it is a bit more fragile than many other crystals and may leave crumbs behind when handled !

This could well be an unusual piece for your collection !

Physical
Biotite Mica is believed to be beneficial for the eyes, sinuses and pancreas. It is also said to reduce the symptoms of hunger whilst fasting, regulate bile secretion and relieve insomnia. Some also believe that it may help to shrink or reduce growths and also fight dehydration.

Mental/Emotional
Biotite Mica is excellent at enhancing our perception and understanding of situations. It encourages rational thinking and clear decision making and helps us to let go of, and to ignore, anything that is not helpful to this process.
