This stunning piece really caught our eye !
It's an Agate Geode that, over time, has had Quartz flow into it and become crystallised until it filled up the entire centre of the once hollow Agate.
Amazing as that is, it happens to Agate over and over again and it's not a rare occurance.
However, what is truly unusual about this Quartz Filled Agate Geode, is that at some time later, molten Iron or Hematite flooded into the geode and filled up the very last spaces left between the Quartz and the Agate. So much so, that it actually coloured the Agate itself a reddish colour.
Hundreds of Thousands of years later, someone found this Agate Geode in modern day Morocco, cut it in half and polished the exposed faces.
This is one half of that Geode - and the colours and patterns formed inside the rock look astounding !
The pattern of the white Quartz is mesmerising, and the red "columns" of Iron stained Quartz and Agate look like, well what?, like some giant cacti is a hot and arid desert ?
