Although this is a small piece, this is the usual size for Azurite Crystals. Very seldom indeed are they found as large crystals.

To the eye, the colour is a deep intense blue although the camera reveals both lighter and darker shades of blue.

On the back and on the front there are some teeny-weeny tiny pieces of green Malachite present.

One side shows some evidence of weathering where it was exposed to the elements.

This gorgeous piece was found in the Sidi Boubeker Mine, West of the town of Touisste in Jerada Province, Morocco which is in the very North East of Morocco where it borders Algeria.

One for lovers of the scarce and the unusual.
