Flint from Poland, Polished Slice No1

This is a gorgeous piece of Polish Flint from, well, Poland, and it has been polished all over to bring out the pattern and the colour.

This particular stone comes from some of the nicest coloured and nicest patterned pieces that we have seen for some time.

Now Flint can be found all over the world but what makes Polish Flint unusual is the internal structure and layering. This type of flint, called banded flint, was first laid down in Limestone in the Jurassic Period in Poland around 160 million years ago in the area of Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski.

The irregular banding makes for very attractive stones.

Flint was almost a sacred stone to ancient man as it helped to bring them fire. Indeed, many were often buried along with their Flint axes, knives and spears to help them in the afterlife.

Physical

Flint is thought to be beneficial in the treatment of kidney stones. It is also said to help with liver disorders, lung disorders and with digestion problems.

Mental/Emotional
