This is a small Polished Point of Garden Quartz from Brazil.

Garden Quartz is so called because the inclusion of other minerals with the Quartz creates a "Garden" of minerals within the Quartz itself, often looking like a Landscape or some other-worldly sweep of land or range of mountains !

As the Quartz was forming, from a cooling pool of liquid rich in Silicon, other minerals washed into this pool, crystallised, and became trapped within the Quartz as it cooled and took on the usual shape of a Quartz Point.

Often the minerals inside Garden Quartz include Chlorite, Hematite, Feldspar, Manganese, Rutile or Mica. Not every mineral is included within every point and it is this that makes each Garden Quartz Point a unique point.

Garden Quartz is known by many names. We've decided to go with Garden Quartz as that seems to be the most popular, but this type of Quartz is also known as Landscape Quartz, Lodolite or Scenic Quartz amongst others.

This piece comes from the Bahia Region of Brazil, on Brazils Atlantic Coast, but Garden Quartz can also be found in Madagascar and in the USA too.
