Nearly all the worlds natural Praisiolite is either set into rare and very expensive jewellery or is in museums like the Smithsonian or the Natural History museum. It is unbelievably rare !

The only way to obtain Praisiolite today is to heat treat Amethyst.

Virtually all the worlds Praisiolite is "created" in Brazil where they heat treat enormous quantities of low grade Amethyst (that would probably never be wanted by the market anyway) and then lay it out to cool on the ground outside allowing the sun to naturally irradiate it for weeks on end.

At the end of this treatment, most of the Amethyst has turned yellow and is sold as "Citrine" but just about 25% to 30% turns green - and this is Praisiolite.

Remember, virtually all Prasiolite for sale, all around the world, is made this way.

Most Praisiolite looks a dull light olive green, but these pieces are from the top 20% of the very best stuff and they have an amazing, translucent almost transparent leafy green to leek green colour to them.
