Muscovite is a semi clear mineral that commonly forms as thin sheets. In fact it was sometimes used as window glass in the Muscovy Province of Russia in medieval times. In the 1500's and 1600's it was well known in England as "Muscovy Glass" which is probably where the name of Muscovite originated.
Muscovite is a very common Mica mineral and can be found in many, many countries throughout the world. Occasionally, more dense formations are found and these can be coloured by the presence of other minerals. Brazil, the USA, China and India (where these palm stones are from) are notable locations for excellent coloured Muscovites.
