Trona Crystals No4
Trona Crystals This is a really super piece of, relatively rare, Trona. It was collected from Searles Lake in California. It is dark pink/reddish in colour. Whilst you may not have heard of Trona, you may have heard of its nearest relative geologically speaking, Halite. Trona, just like Halite, is a Salt based, non-marine, evaporate mineral. It is found in colours ranging from red, maroon, pink, cream, green, and yellow. The colour is determined by the presence of other minerals and by the occurrence of millions of microscopic salt-loving bacteria that live in Searles Lake. When they die their bodies are often incorporated into the Salt crystals that grow there, imparting different colours to different crystals. You can only collect once a year from Searles Lake and so there is not too much of this mineral around. Or to be more precise, there are massive deposits of Trona in the US state of Wyoming that supply around 90% of the USA's annual requirements. Among many industrial uses, Trona is also the main ingredient of Baking Powder and Sodium Bicarbonate ! However, the Trona in Wyoming is non-crystalline. This piece from Searles Lake shows a really excellent chunky crystal formation - and pieces with actual crystals are relatively rare ! As it is a member of the Salt family, don't wash it - ever! Otherwise your investment will simply dissolve and disappear down the sink. Keep it out of bright sunlight too, otherwise the colour in the crystals will simply revert to white again. If you can take these two simple precautions then you could own this quite rare mineral for your collection or healing practice. This really is an amazing piece and a great example of Trona crystals ! Size approx. 100mm x 95mm x 55mm Weight approx. 257grms
Trona Properties and Meaning Crystal Healing Properties, Metaphysical and Gemstone Meaning Physical The energy of Trona promotes wellness and a sense of physical wellbeing. Mental/Emotional Trona, like other salt-based minerals, is highly cleansing. It's nearest relative mineral wise is Halite, but unlike Halite, Trona is more gentle, more subtle, and more soothing. Trona essentially balances the Solar Plexus Chakra (associated with our own personal power, our willpower, and our gut instinct for things) with the Third Eye Chakra (associated with inner knowing, inner wisdom, and our intuition). These 2 Chakras are closely linked and when they are balanced it is thought that individuals can then better access their intuition and wisdom and balance them with their willpower and gut instinct. This balance enables us to make better, wiser decisions that align with our sense of self. Once these 2 related Chakras are balanced, Trona then goes on to work on our other Chakras, gently opening them and balancing them bringing us an overall sense of balance and clarity. Spiritual Trona provides us with a grounding influence and can also enhance our own meditation practices.
