Indochinite No6

Indochinite is a tektite. A tektite is any glass-like material formed by a meteorite impact on Earth. The force of the impact often generates enough heat and energy to destroy the meteorite and melt the Earth rock that it hit. This molten rock, now essentially a "blend" of meteorite and Earth rock, is ejected into the Earth's atmosphere by the force of the impact. The ejected droplets then cool in the upper atmosphere and fall back to Earth.

Indochinites are so called because they are found in the former French colonies of Indo-China i.e. Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. They are also to be found in Thailand and in Southern China.

They are Tektites resulting from a meteorite impact that hit the Earth around 700,000 years ago. It is not known exactly where the meteorite hit, but nowadays, the impact crater is believed to be in Southern Laos.

Indochinites are frequently jet black and show characteristic surface fissures and craters.

Indochinite does have some properties that may help with physical ailments. For instance, it is believed to help with breathing difficulties caused by infection. On the mental/emotional side, it is said to help those who are feeling overly emotional, worried or fearful as well as those who may be very stressed in their life or who may be under pressure to meet impossible deadlines.

However, it is the spiritual properties of this stone that draw most people to discover it. Indochinite is often compared to Moldavite as both are tektites, but whereas Moldavite may send us away on a journey, or an experience, outside of our physical body, Indochinite creates a connection between our inner self, the Earth and the stars. The energy that we experience working with Indochinite is quite grounding and helps us to gather together our thoughts, our emotions, our scattered energies, and our lost purpose and then arrange them and process them in order to make us a whole person again. Indochinite is a highly transformational stone working mostly on the lower chakras, Root, Sacral and Earth Star chakras, however, the whole body and chakra system may be affected as we are brought back into alignment.
