Staurolite This is a really lovely example of Staurolite. Staurolite Crystals nearly always display "twinning" with one crystal overlaying the other to form a cross. Crosses formed at 90 degrees are very rare indeed. Most crosses form at 60 degrees just like this piece. Staurolite is not in itself rare, being found in many countries in Europe, particularly France and Spain. They can also be found in Russia, Canada, the USA and a few places in Africa. However, nice ones showing a good "cross" formation have become much more sought after recently. Staurolite is the brown mineral and the silvery/white matrix in which they often form, is Mica. This is a really lovely Staurolite ! Size approx. 35mm x 20mm x 19mm
