This is a wonderful pendant created with a lovely circular stone of Whitby Jet.

It is set in sterling silver and stamped with 925 on the bail.

Interestingly, when we describe something as being deep black and dark, we may say it is "Jet Black". That phrase can be traced way, way back to how the ancient civilisations thought of this mineral as the most impenetrable black thing that they knew. It was indeed "Jet Black" - nothing to do with modern day jet aircraft !
