Mango Quartz Point

Mango Quartz was initially discovered by a man called Don Victor Carranza, who was also known as the "Emerald Czar". He became a very wealthy businessman and he owned many Emerald mines throughout Colombia. Colombia is world famous for its Emerald mines and supplies something like 60-80 per cent of the worlds Emeralds.

Whilst digging a new access road to one of his mines, sometime in the 1980's, Don Victor and his construction crew came across these yellow tipped Quartz points. He immediately took each and every one of these "Mango Quartz" points for his own personal collection, the whereabouts of which has never been located, and then sealed the entrance of this small mine so that no one else would ever know where it was.

After some major ups and downs in his fortunes, Don Victor eventually died in 2013. And during the years between, the mines location was completely forgotten, with its existence slowly becoming lost to the jungle.

Then in early 2017, a local farmer and his grandchildren were out walking over a small hilly area and discovered a tiny concave dip in the earth on one side of the small hill.

This was the entrance to the lost Mango Quartz mine of Columbia !
