Pink Petrified Wood Tumbled Stone These stones are from ancient prehistoric trees that have, over millions of years, petrified, i.e. literally turned to stone. As such they should properly be called Petrified Wood. However, many times you will hear them referred to as Fossilised Wood. Petrified Wood often shows several colours e.g. brown, yellow, orange, green, red, pink and black. Trace elements of minerals cause these colour changes within the wood structure as it slowly petrifies. These gorgeous stones are pink because of a large amount of Hematite that was present as the tree slowly turned to stone. This would have created a reddish colour that faded over time to pink. Wonderful tumble stones ! Size Large, approx. 25-30mm
