This is both a large and beautiful carving of an Owl cut from a wonderful piece of orange/red Carnelian.
The colour is gorgeous and the carving and detailing (on both the front and the back) has been done with skill and with care.
While most of the owl carvings you'll see for sale measure around 50mm and weigh around 60grms, this large owl measures 105mm tall and weighs over 500grms !
It is both taller and much more substantial than the vast majority of owl carvings on the market.
