This amazing Purple Moss Agate slice is from a new find of this rare stone in India.

The purple colour, which varies from lavender to lilac, is because the mossy strands have formed within Purple Chalcedony.

The lovely mossy patterns that show up so well when held up against a light or against the sky, are in fact inclusions of Chlorite, Iron or Manganese that have spread and branched with the Chalcedony and now look exactly like tendrils of moss !
