Porcelainite is a rare silicate mineral and is a form of vitrified (or glass-like) clay.
Used for centuries to make a type of crucible called a Hessian Crucible (because they were made in the German town of Hesse) such crucibles were used to melt Gold and Silver and other metals that require a very high melting point.
Think of the type of crucible that a mediaeval alchemist may have used and you've got it !
Although used for centuries, Porcelainite was only first catalogued in 1924 in Scotland on the Isle of Mull. Hence, it's alternative name of Mullite.
These tumble stones come from The Czech Republic and resemble unglazed porcelain.
Porcelainite is often called the "Nurturing stone" because it brings to us extremely calming and soothing energies. It brings to us tranquillity, peace and comfort. It is a gentle stone that takes us to our own personal, warm and safe space.
